This performance and video came about through an exploration of head-coverings such as burquas and observing the restrictions that head-coverings and certain types of clothing can impose on vision and movement. In this performance, I have used a plain white sheet, tied at the waist as an exaggerated cloth head-covering. Here, four woman are tied together under the one cloth. Our vision is hugely restricted our movements awkard, difficult and hesitant. The impractical stillettos are chosen to add an extra restriction to movement and balance and an extra edge of precariousness. The combination of the stillettos, the bare legs, the short cloth and the covered faces deliberately invites voyeurism. It invites the gaze of others, a gaze which goes unchallenged by the performers because their faces are covered.
