The centrally located Toparch of Samaria at the time of Jesus was a district inhabited by a political and religious splinter group antagonistic towards those in the toparches of the north (Galilee) and the south (Judea). Jesus, being from the Toparches of both Galilee by residence and Judea by birth, felt compelled to lead a woman of questionable character in Samaria to the Kingdom of God. This woman is often referred to as "the woman at the well". Jesus said that He came not to condemn but rather, "to seek and to save that which is lost." God is looking for you. All of us have problems or situations that require divine attention, like the woman at the well, and the woman taken in adultery.
