This video shows 6 of 40 FMA/MMA takedowns from a 3rd person perspective, As well as from the POV of the attacker & the Defender - Check it out!
The AFMC is tailoring FMA classes to kids to make them more accessible, practical and empowering for self defense in today's world. When it comes to schoolyard bullies - Kids would rather learn TKD, or Karate - Something more accessible, more hands on (No pun intended)
The mano mano element of FMA (Filipino Martial arts) is seemingly unknown as a true mixed system, the various regions have originated striking styles, grappling styles - Even just kicking styles.
Kids today! Go figure... They want UFC, they don't want traditional, historical or Kultura. It makes sense that a combat system would teach weapons first. After all FMA has been refined to kill up folks, and kill em' up fast.
The AFMC Kalahi system has a 20 strike set; each strike in the system has a set of takedowns for 40 total takedowns. Often an inside & and outside approach.
Editors note: This is not intended as a "how to" fight in a cage or MMA sport fighting environment. So be careful out there boyz and girls!
