You’re looking at the EKSO bionic exoskeleton and Good Shepherd Penn Partners is the first facility in the region to provide it to patients with lower body paralysis.
The EKSO is a light-weight, wearable robot worn over clothing and operating by therapists with a controller. The device makes it possible for paralyzed patients to stand and walk, using motors and sensors to assure a proper balance and body position, and create a natural walking motion for patients to experience. The device strengthens muscles and alleviates physical problems associated with immobility. The EKSO is an example of Good Shepherd Penn Partners’ commitment to providing patients in the region with cutting edge rehabilitative technology and hands-on care.
Ekso therapy is only available at Penn Therapy & Fitness at Rittenhouse. For more information, call 215.893.2500.
