The link between the inexpensive foods we all take for granted each day and the farmworkers that pick and raise our food is often overlooked. However, a food system that is cheap, but is built on the backs of the poor is not moral and is not sustainable. Videos created by undergraduate students in the spring 2013 course DOCST 332S "Farmworkers in North Carolina: Roots of Poverty, Roots of Change," in collaboration with Student Action with Farmworkers (saf-unite.org). National Farmworker Awareness Week (NFAW) is a week of action for students and community members to raise awareness about farmworker issues on our campuses and in our communities. In 2013 we celebrate the 14th Annual National Farmworker Awareness Week to raise awareness about farmworker conditions and to honor their important contributions to us every day!
