This is my 10 gauge Santagostino manual knitting machine in action! Made in Milan, this beautiful old machine was once used in the sample factory of Pringle of Scotland.

Using my right hand to control the carriage and it's functions, my left hand controls the racking handle which moves the front bed from side to side every row. Pressing the buttons at the top of the carriage select the different feeders that hold the different yarns, and the buttons on the main carriage are pressed to select different needles on the beds to create different stitches. The levers on the carriage are turned to select different tensions, simple!
