On Thursday March 14, the Make-A-Wish-Foundation of Central and Northern Florida held its Sixth Annual Walk for Wishes event in downtown Orlando at Lake Eola Park. Presented by Allegiant Air, the event was to raise money in order to grant the wishes and dreams of 55 children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Participants were encouraged to compete and accumulate as much money as possible that would win them prizes at the event. Walkers were able to register online weeks ahead and enter as an individual participant or as a team. However, some chose to register at the tables available at the entrance of the event. Eighty-seven teams were a part of Walk for Wishes and only five were ranked the highest fundraisers. Among those was the winner TLC Engineering for Architecture, which raise a total of $4,741. The Central Florida chapter ultimately raised a total of $118,000 from this event alone. They plan to continue their mission on Saturday, May 11 at the Fourth Annual Beach Walk for Wishes at St. Pete’s Beach.
