Remember Home is an on-going Cambodian Oral History project that documents individual survival stories of the genocide orchestrated by Pol Pot, the leader of the Democratic Kampuchea Party, and his Khmer Rouge Regime. The country rapidly faced de-industrialization policies which led to the death of a million Cambodians. The survivors of the genocide escaped to refugee camps in nearby countries, bringing only their stories of the traumatic experience.
I hope to document the first-hand accounts for the sake of preserving history through video and/or audio. I hope it My hope is that these stories will allow the survivors to cope with their past by ventilating what has been bottled up for so many years and to educate younger generations of all people; not just Cambodians.
