Aula Magica (Magic Classroom) is Preschool Education Program currently underway in Guatemala. Inspired by the UNESCO Radio Instruction to Strengthen Education (RISE) Project in Zanzibar unesco.org/education/WCECCE/presentations/Suleiman.pdf. A group of Guatemala educators have organized a program where national curriculum based lessons are recorded and transmitted as radio program lessons for preschool children (aged 4 - 6) facilitated by local facilitators in rural communities of low socioeconomic levels and access to education. The lessons are prepared through the support of Rosa Maria Ruiz Porras and Quirio Ixtamer Perez, both educators, artists, and inspiring passionate Guatemalans working to help their country. The aim is to provide an accessible and low cost support to help better prepare entry into the education system, particularly in rural communities in the Mayan languages.. This program is currently in the developmental stage, with 20 lessons prepared and being taught in Sacatepéquez, Guatemala and a translation and test underway in Nahualá, Sololá, Guatemala.
