When the Canadian corporation TransCanada approached her about running the Keystone XL pipeline through her land, the family refused citing risks to their land and water. Their land was then condemned and taken through eminent domain. TransCanada began construction, but the story doesn’t end there. Urged on by Julia, the family decided to fight.
