DTG G4 | DIY T-Shirt Printing | Custom Long Sleeve T-Shirts
In this video we are doing a project that was inspired by some online research. But, first I want to walk you through printing a shirt with direct-to-garment printing.
Let's talk about the shirt we are going to be using. For the best DTG printing results we always recommend using a 100% cotton shirt. For this project we used a Next Level Long Sleeve T-Shirt. This is a premium quality tee and it's super soft so your customers are going to love it.
First step is to pretreat the shirt. Pretreat is what allows the DTG ink to stick to the shirt. I am using the PTM Machine and this gives us a perfect even spray of pretreatment every time.
Then you will press the shirt for 45 seconds so you can get all the moisture out. Now you are ready to print!
The best part about the DTG G4 is the patented vacuum platen. I can just throw this shirt on my machine and the vacuum is going to suck it right into place.
Plus this vacuum platen has some other benefits. It sucks all the ink into the t-shirt producing more vibrant prints. It also reduces maintenance because instead of ink spraying all around in the machine, it's being drawn down into the t-shirt.
The DTG G4 also has a built in print memory. So I can just go into my recent jobs, tap on my design and press print.
After the shirt is done printing, the ink will still be wet, so you will give it a final press for 45 seconds.
For pressing our direct-to-garment printer shirt we use the GeoKnight DK20. This heat press is great for DTG printing because it has auto open and hover features.
Now this custom long sleeve t-shirt is complete and ready for Halloween!
Let's take a step back and look at the money there is to be made with shirts like this. So we found these generic pumpkin shirts online. And they are selling for $30. Well we knew we could do it better.
So we found these blank long sleeve shirts on colmanandcompany.com for around $8. and ink costs for this HUGE design was $1.69.
Now if these guys are selling this basic shirt for $30 imagine what you could sell these for.
