California is the most diverse of all the fifty states. With a wide variety of life and environments, this state has the most to offer when it comes to photographing nature. California is also fragile due to the natural diversity. With many endangered species of animals and plants, preservation of wildlife has become a major issue for the state. In this photo essay, the goal of each image was to capture the essence of California wilderness without leaving our back yards. There are a wide variety of images, from macro shots to the grand landscape. These images have a deeper meaning as well. As students in Palo Alto, learning about the environment is a given due to the green technology of Silicon Valley and the natural resources this state has to offer. When photographing for this project, we want to show the viewer a teenage perspective of art in the environment and hope, by opening the eyes of our viewers, preserve California’s wilderness for generations to come.
