This trailer is an excerpt from the 20 minute film 'The Power and the Glory?', which was specially made for the Museum of Liverpool's theatre.
The PG-rated film, which is screened free nine times every day at the Museum of Liverpool, is a spectacular interpretation of Liverpool’s global position in history, showing how the loss of the Empire and the loss of British industrial supremacy led to Liverpool’s economic decline in the 20th century.
With a diverse tale to tell, the once prosperous city has experienced highs and lows of all proportions, encountering war, poverty and decline until re-emerging as an exciting and dynamic 21st century city. The hard-hitting film features many of the events that have contributed to Liverpool’s unique story, including its role in the slave trade, the impact of Irish immigration on the identity of the city and the dock strikes of the 1980s.
