If you are thinking where to move next in Istanbul, have a look at Ayvansaray. It is going to be one of the new fancy places, populated by Avatarians designed by the muncipiality of Fatih. You feel like in the virtual world of Second life, unreal looking houses with wooden looking plastic surfaces, stereotyped people and- as for now- a whole district just newly dmolished. Half of the houses standing, half already teared down. I have tons of material. I first show you the rest of the old quarter and the visions for the new one for now, talks with people will follow in the next postings.
I was just startled, that the muncipiality of Fatihi doesn't care for a quarter being populated by the so called 'normal needy people". The ones they are usually talking for.
I can't say, that I am a huge fan of shrines neither in Christianity nor in Islam. It has something weird seing people praying or wishing something in front of a tomb. But I always liked the Dervish-hat-form on some old cemeteries in Istanbul. It remeinds me Sema, Sufism and all kinds of universal references in Sufi- poetry.
So seing a reference to the shrine of some followers of the Prophet Mohammed on a going to be demolished old wooden house in Ayvansaray wasn't only the irony of fate , but the manufactured foolishness of this Transformation city planning policy. May the curse of Ebu Şeybet Ül Hudri come on the fools, who planned this second life world just beside one of the most beautiful Mimar Sinan built mosques and the Ebu Şeybet Ül Hudri Tomb!
