This work is a one of a series of pieces intended to be viewed as an installation. It utilizes an approach to "slow art" using very long dissolves and a soundtrack that similarly evokes an extension of time. It may be thought of as ambient video that is of course related to Brian Eno's ambient music.
The images in this video were made on one of two Sand Islands off shore of the Canadian region of Silver Islet, Ontario in Lake Superior. On several occasions I paddled my kayak to this location and photographed extensively. The name G E O L O G I C S was used as I was finishing up a documentary of the geology of this region with two talented brothers, Scott and Burns Cheadle, one a geophysicist the other a geologist. We finished the film "Shores of Time" during the summer of 2012.
