Besides chasing the aurora for 5 nights, we had a cruise around the coast of Tromso one afternoon. We docked at a few spots to take pictures. One of the spots was Sommarøy which is also known as Summer Island. As most of us were busy taking pictures in different directions, our guide Thomas decides to make a snowman. It was not long after Thomas rolled the first snowball when I realized this would make a great video. I took out my GoPro and placed it strategically on a rock and started recording. I came back 20min later to see the finishing touches of the snowman. That's when we all agreed we had to take a group picture with the snowman (the group picture at the end of this video was taken with Canon 1Dx).
Summer Island is a beautiful little coastal town in Tromsø’s west. A popular activity at the hotel is ice bathing – relaxing in the spa then jumping in the cold ocean – in summer or winter! Apparently it is very invigorating but I have yet to try it. To find this location, search "Sommarøy Norway" in Google maps.
