Building my CupCake 3D Printer, it arrived in a kit with all the pieces cut out and ready to assemble. The guys at makerbot.com have really done a nice kit.
My first build was a lens-hood downloaded from thingiverse.com which is a place where people can upload and share 3D designs, where else can you find a printable kitchen stove nob, a printablebathtub drain plug or a printable door-handle.
The coolness factor don't stop here, the guys at MakerBot have create this as open-source, you can download the complete plans to make a 3D printer yourself at home, though Im pretty sure most will go the way I did and get the kit.
It is already clear that there is room for improvements, and this printer must be the first in the world capable of printing its own hardware upgrades. how is that for a thought "download and print a hardware upgrade". This is the future boys and girls.!
Sorry about the video quality, it was kind of a after thought, and honestly the iPhone don't do great video at night.
