Another installment of Idaho Falls magazine's "East Idaho Impression" series, this presentation offers a look at one of the region's most beautiful wilderness destinations. Just 45 minutes east of town, this high-mountain stream harbors an abundance of aquatic life, including the famous Snake River cutthroat trout.
Shot on a Canon 5D Mark II DSLR. Ancillary equipment: ProAm Crane, GlideCam 2000 Pro, Zoom H4N Recorder (used for talking head shots not represented here), and optics including 24mm TS-E 3.5L, 135mm 2.0 and 50mm 1.4.
The closing-credit clip was NOT shot underwater. I just framed up a scene that had enough exposure separation and camera to subject distance to put the foreground (meaning the lower half of the frame) into a murky, milky green. For the real deal (and the inspiration behind it), check out Vincent Laforet's Red footage in his Jamie O'Brien project, featured on Smug Mug. Wowza!
