HEARING VOICES is a 5 day workshop/performance by Nicole Beutler and Eric Ellingsen. HEARING VOICES engages the psychoacoustic work of Diana Deutsch ‘Phantom Words’. These are moving poems made in the interplay of the space of listening and the volume of architecture space. The score is made up of experienced spatial experiments in which listening writes the words the audience hears. The choreography of the dancers is based on sound rather than sight. Phantom words allows the same objective words being said to be heard differently be each person. Listening authors the words. HEARING VOICES engages the collective voice and the subjective ear.
