“Armed with 10 days and a camera, Pahsimeroi[puh-sim-uh-roi] Pictures attempts to capture the non-professional enthusiast hunter in search of one of the largest mammals in North America, the Rocky Mountain Elk."
Sifting through the sub alpine and alpine basins of central Idaho, the team prides themselves on the fair chase of hunting solely on public land. Pairing Team Old and Team Young, Pahsimeroi Pictures offers a mixture of wisdom and an aspect of slightly elevated levels of confidence needed to stay successful in the ever evolving field of the elk hunt.
TEAM OLD Mike Crawford - given the nickname “Coug” due to an after dark duel with a mountain lion, Mike has been hunting elk for 40 years. A math teacher and coach in Enterprise, Oregon, Mike has made his annual trip to Idaho for the last 28 years out of 29 and has had the opportunity to shoot a bull every year. Marc Bales- Nicknamed “Griz” due to his bucket list dream of an Alaskan grizzly bear hunt, Marc filmed for a number of outdoor hunting programs in the late 1900s. Earning the honor of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's world champion elk bugler in 1989, Griz consistently surrounds himself with elk.
TEAM YOUNG Will Bales - A college student in Eugene, Oregon, Will adds an element of youth to Pahsimeroi Pictures. Will is fascinated by the feast of the senses that he experiences on every elk hunt, the adrenaline rush that comes when he hears the bugle of the elk and the scent of the animal he catches when the wind is in his face. Grady Rawls - A graduate from Oregon State University, where he studied New Media Communications. Grady is an aspiring film maker who loves the outdoors and prides himself in professionalism. Grady's favorite aspect of film editing is getting the opportunity to bring the characters' personalities and experiences to life. One of his key goals while editing this film was to bring the story to the viewer like they were out in the field with the team.
