In late September 2012, Jessica, some friends and myself set off to see the Adirondack Balloon Festival in Glens Falls, NY. Driven there by curiosity and by the promise of seeing hundreds of colors against a morning sky, we packed up all our camera gear, scheduled a balloon flight with Pilot Ken Levesque and set off driving from Atlanta, Ga. What we saw and experienced the morning of September 23rd was incredible. From the ground, where myself and Jamie Sichel were, we saw a hundred balloons inflate and fill the morning sky around us with a panoply of colors and shapes. From the sky, Jessica and Alliene described experiencing the kind of weightlessness and flight that one experiences only their dreams. We were like children, gazing up at the sky, filled with wonder, amazement and joy. And for those who had the pleasure to fly, they may have experienced only a moment aloft but say they will remember this for as long as they live. Interestingly enough, the balloon that carried us that morning was called the DreamMaker.
Many thanks to Ken Levesque of U-Ken-Do-Ballooning for being a sporting chap and letting us film him and his team as they set up the flight. You can visit him here tinyurl.com/d5bzhrs
