WAKE UP is a reactive light sculpture made of vertically organized fluorescent bulbs that react to the presence of a person. As the viewer approaches the sculpture random light patterns are produced. As he gets closer the patterns get more intense to finally deliver the message.
The main interest of this work is to generate a reflection on how much the dream of a society without discrimination has come true, and how much must one still need to act on it to achieve it.
This sculpture was presented at MLK50, an exhibition commemorating the 50 years of Martin Luther King's speech "I have a dream", presented during the Black History Month in Place des Arts, Montréal on Feb 2013.
