This was an original song that was written, recorded, and produced by our students in the Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Academy at Urban Arts Partnership. The Trayvon Martin music video was more than a video. It was a story that had to be told properly by way of music and visuals. We made sure the first thing we did was go back and review the proper timeline prior to and after the murder. Once we fully understood what happened we were able to form the appropriate music and lyrics to expressing our feelings, get our message across and also captivate audiences of all ages so they become educated about what happened but also entertained. In terms of the video itself we wanted to recreate what happened that day between Trayvon and Zimmerman with a New York flare to it while incorporating the artists, urban city feeling and the authentic news clips of various worldwide views. In the making of all this we wanted to not mourn but celebrate his life and the changes brought about and progress of justice to come.
