Considering how contemporary surfing is presented in the media, it may come as a surprise that gay surfers actually exist. But well may you ask, what does being gay have to do with surfing anyway? Homosexuality is perhaps a small, but an undeniable part of our social makeup, in the waves as much as on land.
“Out in the line-up” takes you on a global journey to meet gay surfers such as 3 time world champion Cori Schumacher, ex- US pro surfer Robbins Thompson, ex New South Wales state champion David Wakefield, and many more. Hear their stories of the struggle for acceptance – from their friends and families, other surfers – and themselves.
This film brings many untold personal stories to the public eye. It creates space for discussion about equality – and it reaches out to an up-coming generation where open-mindedness, diversity and acceptance can become positive social values.
The film is currently in production, but to complete it we need financial support. To donate to this project that promotes acceptance and social change please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
