In reality it’s the northern part of the «Land of thousand ponds» («Pays des mille étangs»), but I call it «Crosslands». The region in the eastern french Departments of Saône and Vosges was one of the poorest in the country for a long time. The people were very religious at that time, I was told during my stay last summer when I was shooting one of the Crosses («Croix calvaires») in the beautiful landscape of hills, forests and gentle valleys. So I became interested and started to seek and shoot more of the calvary crosses, often along modern streets or ancient paths. During Easter 2013 I finally had some time off to finish the video.
Many thanks to Torley for the permission to use his music from his album «Glitch Piano». Please checkout his website and his wonderful music and soundcapes (music.torley.com/).
The time-lapses and videos were shot with a Panasonic GH2 (hacked), a Canon 5D Mark II mostly with Nikon glass and a Canon G10. The motorized slider is from pocketslider.de/.
