In December 2010, a partnership began between the Actors' Attic and Gillan Graphics, Inc. to bring live theatre to the City of Columbia, IL.
Our mission is to renovate part of the Weinel hardware facility, now owned by the Gillan family, into a 110-seat live performing arts center. Thus, the Columbia Theatre Project will become home to live local theatre for all ages. In addition, acting classes, an art studio, open mic nights, and facility rental for thriving local artists will become available.
The Columbia Theatre Project will lead our local Monroe County community into a cultural renaissance and create a legacy for future generations.
The Columbia Theatre Project has launched a $200,000 campaign to create this new home for the Actors' Attic and its educational program.
Now that we have the building, for our future home in downtown Columbia, Illinois at 318 N. Main, we are looking for individuals, corporations, and volunteers who have a love for the arts and are willing to support the project.
