This type in motion visualization of the movie Submarine aims to explore dynamic text and graphics in Adobe After Effects. Specific voice over monologues spoken by Oliver, the main character in the movie, were chosen and rearranged to articulate certain portions of the storyline and give more information on the main character. Oliver’s voice over was accompanied by dynamic text, vector and raster images. Text was used to emphasize particular words and phrases within the voiceover, while the images provide further reinforcement and creatively illustrate the spoken words. The majority of the illustrations were animated on a 2D plane, although certain scenes including the book (00:35) and the text at 00:53 explore working in a 3 dimensional environment.

The audio was pulled directly from the movie and edited within Audacity. Work had to be done to remove the background noise and accompanying soundtrack so that once placed in Adobe After Effects, the speech flowed smoothly without huge auditory differences between audio clips.
