Joel Gethin Lewis
Interactive artist and designer, Joel Gethin Lewis, is fascinated by the play of light in dark spaces, the use of strong contrasts between light and dark and cityscapes of Bladerunner. Inspired by the use of light in the photography of Philip-Lorca di Corcia, the chiaroscuro techniques of renaissance painting and at the same time the atmospheric films of Ridley Scott, Gethin Lewis worked with photographer Richard Meftah to explore low light photography techniques.
The resulting exhibition presents cinematic and emotive portraits coupled with a interactive high resolution screen installation that simulates a light beam controlled interactively by the viewers movements.
