We, at Serve A Little, received a letter from a small village of 10,000 people in Haiti (called Sable Le Gras) asking us to help them build a school. As Haiti had been on our hearts as a place we wanted to somehow help, we decided to go and see what we could do.
Based on material prices we got on our most recent visit, we estimate that the school can be built for approximately $80,000. This will provide a much needed education for the local village children, save the lives of an average of 10 children a year by allowing them to go to a local school instead of having to travel to another village, and will put local Haitian talent to work. The impacts will be long lasting - hopefully for generations. We are asking for your financial help to make this project a reality.
