I've never created a video before, so this was an interesting and somewhat challenging project. I knew I wouldn't be able to replicate exactly what I had envisioned when making my soundscape, but I wanted to capture the same feel. When I had imagined the scenes, I imagined them in black and white, like an old movie, so I chose only older films that were originally filmed in black and white, any with tinting I changed to black and white as well.
Trying to maintain the steady increase in anxiety that the sound supplies, I utilized a number of clips from old German Expressionist movies (such as "The Fall of the House of Usher" and "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari"), a psychological horror ("Carnival of Souls"), and a few simpler videos of mundane life that could add a bit of contrast to the overall tension of the film (such as "Laundry Hanging Outside and "Steel Mill"). I wanted to keep the overlaying of scenes to a minimal at the beginning and steadily increase their prominence as the sound continued to build. I thought this might supply some tension or pull the viewer in deeper.
