"The Hikers," a dance work conceived of by Rashid Johnson and choreographer Claudia Schreier, was presented at Storm King in a series of live evening performances on August 20-21, 2021, along with a conversation between Johnson and Schreier, moderated by Storm King Senior Curator Nora Lawrence. The performances were accompanied by a live music performance by Marcus Miller on saxophone, and set the backdrop of Johnson’s "The Crisis" (2019), the gridded, sixteen-foot-tall yellow steel sculpture which the artist sited within a field of native grasses. Dancers for all performances were Leslie Andrea Willams of Martha Graham Dance Company and Brandon Gray of Complexions Contemporary Ballet.
