These are two excerpts of a one hour educational documentary that I'm currently making that follows the story and impact of one of America's most influential aircraft ever made, the Curtiss Jenny. In it's short, but pivotal to aviation history life, the Jenny became the first mass produced assembly line aircraft, the Army trainer that 95% of N. American military pilots learned to fly in, the first regular scheduled U.S. Air Mail carrier, and the most popular early Barnstorming aircraft. This film has been a true labor of love, allowing the story of early flight to unfold as a metaphor of the dreams and aspirations of so many. Traveling the back roads of America, my wife and I filmed from rural Pennsylvania to wind swept Texas. 3 of the 6 currently flying Jenny's in the world are featured as well as a cast of experts who share their views and knowledge of the Jenny. For me personally, this film has allowed me to re-examine my own interest in flying and flying's influence on my own family.
