The Dresdner Sinfoniker are famous for surprising their audiences time and again with unusual ideas: While they gave concerts on high-rise buildings in Dresden-Prohlis in September 2020, the Elbe became their stage on September 4th 2021. The musicians "set sail" in small groups from Dresden-Pillnitz. On their way to Dresden city centre, they met their audience at landing stages and Elbe beaches and gave small concerts.
When they arrived in Dresden's old town, a vast working pontoon converted into a concert podium received all musicians. The concert guests, who had simultaneously spread out on the Elbe meadow, were presented with an exquisite scene: Dresden's impressive old town loomed behind the orchestra on its floating stage.
