A video interviewing Jane Pierce, Megan Patrylak, Caroline Goldstein, Grace Bauer and Staci Celinski about their independent research surrounding their senior thesis writings.
The BA in Art Studies program prepares students to work in art-related fields through courses in art history, contemporary art, museum practice, critical theory and writing. In the final year of study the BA student undertakes a year-long investigation on a topic of his or her own choice, culminating in the senior thesis. In writing a thesis, students identify an pursue their own intellectual interests. Students learn how to conduct independent research.
Finally, students learn the process of writing and develop their own identity as a writer. With this knowledge, students are prepared to move on to graduate school or go directly into the marketplace as museums and gallery professional, art critics, and art entrepreneurs.
