Kim Haughie's productivity leaves even the most productive of us feeling a little lazy. She got hooked on ceramics & nothing would stop her - to the point where her first pottery wheel was set up in her kitchen at home. As she says in this interview "where there's a will there's a way... I'd be stirring pots & throwing pots..."
A project she was involved in early on in her making, saw her digging clay from her own backyard to make work from - a ritual she has continued with annually.
Her dedication quickly made it clear that she needed her own space. The back 'rat infested' shed was transformed into a gorgeous light filled studio, equipped with pottery wheel, shelves of work that are constantly turned over through sales & a full sized kiln.
Kim works with a group of Daylesford Ceramicists under the name Clay Space & their collective studio is open to the public. Her work has been exhibited both locally & internationally.
