THE SPILL FESTIVAL OF PERFORMANCE IS AN INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF LIVE ART, ACTIVISM AND PERFORMANCE PRESENTING THE WORK OF EXCEPTIONAL ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE.
A large group of dead people sit in darkness, conversing to pass the time, or rather, eternity… After thousands of years go by they rise up and go on the rampage, determined to seek out God and demand an answer. Based on Nobel Prize-winning author Pär Lagerkvist’s novel, The Eternal Smile is a witty, wild and philosophical performance about the dead and their complex relationship with the living.
Verk Produksjoner is Norway’s leading experimental theatre ensemble. They have gained extensive international recognition in recent years, having established a reputation nationally for epic and vaudevillian productions with a satirical and political edge.
Their approach to theatre is to establish a strong connection with the audience with a solid sense of here and now, changing swiftly between storytelling, acting and improvisation.
Verk won the Hedda Award 2011 in the category of Best Production for The Eternal Smile, in Norway.
