On April 5th, Props To Hip Hop will be coming together to throw one of the biggest parties to one of hip hop's biggest years. With the help of a live band and over two dozen local New York City emcees and vocalists, Props To Hip Hop will throw NYC's largest tribute to the year of the hits. Be there as we revisit songs such as "Hip Hop Hooray", "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" and many more, because "...this is how we chill from 93 'til".
THE YEAR 1993:
1993 is often considered the year that bookended Hip Hop's "Golden Age", featuring iconic releases from both coasts such a Dr. Dre's The Chronic and A Tribe Called Quest's Midnight Marauders. However, it is probably easier to simply say that 1993 was one of the greatest years that Hip Hop has ever seen, with the release of chart climbing hits such as "Gin & Juice", "Whoop There It Is" and "Insane In The Brain". If 1986 is credited with introducing Hip Hop music to the mainstream, then 1993 is credited with cementing its impact on the music world at large.
WHAT IS PROPS TO HIP HOP?
iLLspokinN and Tru Statement Entertainment invite some of New York City's top up and coming emcees to pay homage to legendary hip hop artists chosen by YOU! Backed by a ridiculously talented live band for each event, the show celebrates the music from start to finish and will take you down a bass heavy trip on memory lane. In advance of each show, PropsToHipHop.com hosts a poll for viewers to choose who will be the star of that evening's performance.
