On Saturday 23rd March Mary and I caught the train to North Berwick and ran back to Leith. If you take the beaches and trails to Aberlady then go round the lagoons at Musselburgh keeping to the coast you can make the trip around 26 miles with an initial mile up to the station. We stopped for a break and something to eat and drink at Aberlady. Having started running about 2.30pm we got home around 8pm. The weather was consistently unspectacular - grey and overcast. And very cold. The media have dubbed this a Siberian Spring and the cold wind and heavy seas would confirm this. However we had a good day out enjoying the big seas and the wind on our backs, although the exposure does make a long day more taxing. I was pleased with the long exposure (6s) shot of Portobello front and the movies of the breaking waves near Gullane; which when reversed turn the commonplace into something familiar yet striking.
