After more than two months of stalemate the Free Syrian Army (FSA) have advanced into three regime held areas of central Aleppo, edging them closer to a tightly defended district. Territory has change hands several times but did not mark a decisive shift in the battle for Syrias second city. The uprising approaches its 20th month, more than 60,000 Syrians have lost their lives in this conflict, and millions displaced. Nearly 300,000 civilians have fled to neighbouring counties, while the bloody urban warfare engulfs the entire country. The Assad regime has intensified its aerial bombardment of FSA strong holds, brutally punishing innocent civilians and the FSA.
