In this piece titled Damn Spots, there are a combination of photographs and film that are projected on an apron that depict a woman making a cherry pie and then subsequently destroying it. This is meant to show themes of feminism and violence. The feminism is seen as the woman is making a pie, a representation of procreation. The theme of violence is then seen as the pie is being deconstructed and the woman’s hands are covered in the cherry filling. The video also relates to the literature of Macbeth in that after destroying the pie the woman attempts to clean her hands, but instead scrubs her hands with a brush using no soap or water. The sound being played along with the projection is parts taken from a performance of Macbeth mixed with sound of a natural birth, driving home the aforementioned themes.
