Bhakti Chai is not GMO cerified and is in no way a product that is free of GMO's I mean all their ready to made drink contain Soy. Thier product for those that care about something like this is just GMO verified but no where on their site do they make this distinction. Their site says "Non GMO" which in my understanding is a lie, Non GMO Ceritified and Verified are two different things. According to the site that they have their "verification" through the "Non-Gmo Project" this is what is clearly stated "Are products bearing the “Non-GMO Project Verified” seal GMO free?
Unfortunately, “GMO free” and similar claims are not legally or scientifically defensible due to limitations of testing methodology. In addition, the risk of contamination to seeds, crops, ingredients and products is too high to reliably claim that a product is “GMO free.” The Project’s claim offers a true statement acknowledging the reality of contamination risk, but assuring the shopper that the product in question is in compliance with the Project’s rigorous standard. The website url is included as part of the Seal to ensure that there is transparency for consumers who want to learn more about our verification. While the Non-GMO Project’s verification seal is not a “GMO free” claim, it is trustworthy, defensible, transparent, and North America’s only independent verification for products made according to best practices for GMO avoidance."
Also Bhakti Chai states in a Media Kit provide here scribd.com/doc/127609325/Bhakti-Chai-Media-Kit That they are "Non Gmo" which is not true. They are also not clearly showing the Seal of Verification that is suppose to be shown in order to clearly let people know that their product is Verified and not Certified. (side note the media company representing Bhakti can't even produce a press release without typos)
Why you should be concerned about the products claiming to be "NON GMO" are they Verified or Certified, this explain more about what being certified means cert-id.com/Certification-Programs/Non-GMO-Certification/Why-Certify.aspx
How this all came about and to this article came from.
23rd Studios contacted Bhakti Chai to do a story on Boulders Love with Bhakti Chai. They allowed us in their factory and home to speak with them about the process and evolution of the product. This video covers the evolution of Bhakti Chai in about 14 mins. It also shows how the owner Brook Eddy has since taken it upon herself to threaten 23rd Studios with slander for work that was done free of charge with their approval. They have submit a claim to Youtube having this video removed claming Copyright Infringement, when all the content in the video was recorded and edited by 23rd Studios. The log was provided by they and most of the promotional content has been provided by their PR person.
Bhakti Chai is an amazing company, they seem to feel that because they are a medium size company they can push us around because they have not approved of the story we ended up putting together. The story and video portrays a true and good look into the process of making this great product. It tells a story right from the owners mouth about the evolution of her company. The man speaking is her brother and he talks about the process in the factory and not at any time talking about anything that has not been talked about in past articles or videos.
This video was produced for the use of media to tell a story about Bhakti Chai, they seem to think that we were producing this video for them and even after we made it clear that we were not going to cut the video in half. They would not come to some agreement with us about the content that we produced. We told them we would removed the none factual information state in the interviews but everything else was going to be published.
