The roundtable discussion features teachers who work to address the specific history of the Holocaust and recognize its relevance for understanding today’s world. Co-editors Jennifer Lemberg, Associate Director of US Programs at TOLI, and Alexander “Sandy” Pope, Associate Professor of education at Salisbury University and co-leader of TOLI’s Maryland Satellite Seminar, facilitate a discussion grounded in the experiences of teachers who are navigating the challenges of teaching the Holocaust and social justice in their classrooms.
The panelists, all contributors to the volume, engage in discussion about how to teach the Holocaust through inquiry; reflect on how teaching this history came to intersect with their teaching about subjects including American Indian history and refugees living in the US; and consider how their Holocaust teaching came to transform their classroom practice.
