Since her retirement in 1995, Rose A. Ah Sing Yamada continues her commitment as a lifetime educator by working tirelessly for the youth of Molokai. She advocates social justice, equity, and equal access for all students. She does this by securing the necessary funding for programs, her direct involvement, and by participating in policy decision-making and publishing. Rose's skills and heart support Molokai youth, many of whom live in areas that are economically and socially disadvantaged. Over a period of three decades, Rose has leveled the playing field by making learning programs accessible to all young people. In addition, Rose's programs target the individual learning styles of children and give them the confidence to attain their goals. "There is so much we don't know about learning. We can't be shutting doors on learners, " Rose said.
