The Kambia Appeal places UK NHS professionals at Kambia District Hospital in Sierra Leone for a minimum of six months to help improve maternal and child health. The film follows our first set of UK volunteers (Kate Wilkinson, Grace Walker, Natasha Kay and Suzanne Howell) as they work on the wards and run training sessions for the hospital nursing staff - VNAs (volunteer nursing aides). VNAs provide the main nursing care at the hospital, but they are unpaid and untrained.
The film was made by Greg Browning and James Dowling of Silicon19: Cornerstone Documentary on behalf of The Kambia Appeal.
