High Technology High School of Monmouth County, New Jersey, is ranked #10 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. As a career academy, its curriculum, based upon STEM subjects, allows students to learn through hands on projects and work collaboratively. Like all public schools, parents do not pay tuition for children to attend. Unlike public schools, it has an admissions policy that requires review of candidates' academic history as well as an entrance exam. While traditional public schools admit only students within a single town, High Tech High and other career academies accept students from anywhere within a county. Kevin Bals, principal of High Tech High, joins us to share his knowledge of the academy.
