This documentary film was shot on Katsura-shima island, in October 2011, 6 months after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami ravaged the North East region of Japan. A work of utter simplicity, the film lets 6 different people speak of their experiences on the day of the earthquake, and of what transpired for them afterwards.
Interspersed with images of the island, and traditional Japanese poetry, the commonplace realities of disaster and tragedy speak to a broader more universal sense of humanity’s place in the world.
