Headed out Jupiter Inlet on Erik's boat with Erik, Ryan, Pat, Joey and myself with a plan to get cobia on the boat. We proceeded to do a series of drifts in an area that have been productive lately. We used flashers and chum to attract the sharks to us and got a bunch of them to show up. We were fortunate to have the beautiful sight of multiple cobia in tow on a couple occasions. In the first encounter on the video I dove down and began to line up on one of the fish. While I was doing so, out of the corner of my eye I could see another bull shark eyeing me and it began charging towards me. I was planning on getting much closer to the cobia before pulling the trigger but the shark was getting closer and closer which was a bit distracting to say the least. I pulled the trigger and missed just a tad high then grabbed my gun to protect myself from the shark. He turned at the last second as can be seen in the video. During the next encounter shown in the video I was doing a blind dive and just so happen to see the the shark and all the cobia once I got about 40' down. I had a big gap to close but fortunately the shark took a turn and one of the cobias swam closer to me and gave me a nice shot at it. He came in at 23 pounds. On our last drift of the day my camera battery was dead, so I unfortunately missed filming the action. We got into the sharks and cobia thick as there were several sharks that came up higher in the water column and a few of them had cobia on them. Ryan spotted a big one down deeper and dive bombed down to it and nailed it, a nice 50 pounder, well done. Another great day on the water!
