A taster of the upcoming TG4 film, Bás Arto Leary. A contemporary version of the epic 18th century Caoineadh Art Ui Laoghaire, Bás Arto Leary relocates to modern day Galway in Manchán Magan's script. The film was commissioned as part of TG4's Scéal series and it recently won the Audience Award at the Dingle International Film Festival.
Bás Arto Leary stars Kelly Gough (Raw, Scúp) as Eileen, Lochlainn O'Mearáin (The Summit) as Arto, Aoife Nic Ardghail (Rasai na Gallaimhe, Seacht) as Bríd and Owen McDonnell (Singlehanded, Saving The Titanic, Wild Decembers) as Abraham Morris.
The film was directed by IFTA-winning director Luke McManus and shot by Suzie Lavelle, IFTA-winning cinematographer (Doctor Who, The Other Side Of Sleep) and produced by Ciarán O'Cofaigh (Na gCloigne, An Brontannas).
