Rob MacRiner, Dieter Kratzenberg, Ian and Dorie Billich, Geoff and Charlene Reeves, and Marcus King, sail from Phuket Thailand to Langkawi Malaysia for 10 days in a Sunsail 44i named "Papaya". This was the 30th annual bareboat charter and SCUBA adventure in various locations worldwide. This route is a great cruising ground with many spectacular Islands, great beaches and lots of fabulous Thai restaurants. Some of the worthwhile stops enroute are Koh Yai, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Phi Phi Lee, Koh Lante, Koh Mook, Koh Lipe and the southern Langkawi Islands. There is also a must see 70m swim through a cave in the Island of Koh Mook also known as Koh Muk. This cave swim ends at an towering open air grotto 150' high. The grotto is an incredible treasure Island jungle atmosphere with a white powder beach and emerald lagoon. This cave-grotto is known as the Emerald Caves or Morakot Cave. Further south is another great Thai Island hotspot called Koh Lipe (just north of Langkawi and part of the Butang Archipelago) . Koh Lipe is reminiscent of Phi Phi Island 15 years earlier. -- Overall this route is a worthwhile cruising ground and a great way to see both Thailand and Malaysia. Tides can be high.
