Pastor Rich Hendrix spoke from Mark 10:43-45 about how Christ calls us to follow his example of servanthood:
“…Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
What’s so great about serving?
1. Serving follows Jesus
2. Serving connects us to people
3. Serving meets real needs
4. Serving gets us over ourselves
5. Serving is fulfilling
Figuring out where to serve
1. What do you care about?
“The place God calls you to
is the place where your deep gladness
and the world’s deep hunger meet.”
2. What needs and opportunities are right in front of you?
3. What are you good at?
4. What is God prompting you to do?
Go in the name of Jesus
who came to our world
to serve rather than be served.
Go in the power of Jesus
who thought being a servant
was entirely worthwhile.
Go in the way of Jesus
who found indescribable joy
in serving real people by meeting real needs.
Go be the hands and feet of Jesus
in your world this week.
